A little larger than life... a little smaller than i'd like ;) It is very difficult to deal with large pieces of stone - way before the actual sculpting!
This piece took two summers to complete (approx 5 months total) and was completed in 2008.

This is pretty neat looking. And amazing to consider the amount of time involved.
ReplyDeleteThe form reminds me of Brancusi's work and some of the large Olmec heads. As the piece gets larger it can take on a more abstract feel. Stone is a beast to work.
